Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner hands over radio equipment and Invisio headsets to the Jägerbrigade
Handover of radio equipment and headsets by Defense Minister Tanner to Austrian Army Bundesheer!
Today, 29 May 2024, our Minister of Defence, Klaudia Tanner, officially handed over the newly purchased Thales radios and Invisio headsets to the soldiers at a ceremony at the Ostarrichi barracks in Amstetten.
The equipment was purchased as part of a tender process overseen by the Austrian Armed Forces, including Colonel Horst Treiblmaier and Director Peter Loher. Both gentlemen were present at the handover, as were the two company representatives, Mr Christian Loew from Thales Austria and Mr Franz Drnek from headsets.at- Imtradex Communications, the Austrian general agent for Invisio.
“With the current national defence budget, we are able to carry out the long-overdue modernisation of equipment for our soldiers on many levels. I am therefore delighted to be able to hand over the new military radios to the troops of the 7th Jäger Brigade today. We are investing €12.2 million in the troops to bring communications up to a modern standard. The radios will already be used in the upcoming large-scale exercise ‘Schutzschild 24’ and thus represent an increase in combat effectiveness for the forces equipped with them,” said Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner.
Following a tender and competitive bidding process, a total of 2,530 military radios with headsets and integrated hearing protection were procured. The new headsets not only offer the best possible hearing protection on the battlefield, but also ensure secure and clear communication. Thanks to external microphones built into the in-ear headsets, soldiers can also hear all external noises with situational awareness. It is even possible to amplify external noises, allowing you to hear almost the grass growing. And all this with full hearing protection.
The headsets were purchased in a soldier version and a commander version. The latter uses a PTT control unit to which several radios and intercom systems can be connected. This enables the commander to communicate via several communication channels simultaneously.
